The site is undesirable. There is a significant drainage problem in the south west part of the field. There is only one access route through Penny Lane which is entirely unsuitable for construction access and will cause major inconvenience to residents potentially involving purchase of pathways or gardens. The developers plans potentially involve a planned access road through the existing woodland the left hand of the site involving wholescale destruction of a natural environment.

I wanted to write since visiting the open morning a couple of Saturda ys ago in response to a leaflet that came through the door and which had our road name on it On seeing the plan for 100 some houses at the end of Penny Lane we were dumbfounded by the proposal that allows access via our (Penny Lane) only. As we said in the survey it took us 6 months to choose where we wanted to live and we chose Southbourne due to it's semi rural location. The absolute last thing we would ever support is a development at the end of our street or more development in the village. The area is thriving and we are lucky to be close to a small town and large city that provides everything else from a retail perspective that may be missing. Clearly the proposal has not been thought through since if it had it would be obvious that current residents encounter continual parking issues with drives being blocked and cars parked obscuring the road visibility. Deliveries and rubbish collections are already a problem as you cannot drive two cars up the road (in opposite directions at the sa= me time) due to parking of cars and lack of off road parking. Similarly at 8am it is very problematic to exit Penny Lane onto Main Road due to the road being very busy. How will that work with an additional 150 cars in the immediate vicinity? All in all.. a ridiculous idea especially when there is enough land around that does not disrupt established residential areas. The development would not get our support at all.

I have viewed the above plans and feel this is a good option because:

  • There is good existing access from the main road

  • Building here does not affect many existing properties/residents.

  • There is little impact to wildlife, as this is already a caravan park.
