The Chichester Development Policy is currently being developed and is due to be completed and adopted in October 2014. This will replace the current Local Plan adopted in April 1999. This sets out the number of houses to be built as well as other general policies. T he Chichester Draft Plan requires the building of 300 homes in Southbourne between 2014 and 2021, as well as 50 more homes elsewhere in the Parish. The location(s) and type of housing are not specified.
Deciding the way you want your community to evolve and change is what the Neighbourhood Plan is all about. Residents know their locality and the areas of importance that should be protected and how you see your community in the future. Whilst the overall plan is the responsibility of the Parish Council, in order to achieve a balanced input from residents we are hoping many will join in so that all areas of our parish are fully represented in the creation of our Neighbourhood Plan. If you would like to be involved you can join one of the focus groups or help out with one off events, or just let us have your feedback (and opinions). To join a group please email us.
How does this affect me?
Southbourne Neighbourhood Planning Team are currently gathering data within the focus groups, to enable us to communicate with the residents of the parish, to understand the concerns and needs of the residents regarding housing, facilities, transport, employment and all other areas that can be encompassed within the Neighbourhood Plan. A newsletter containing information about the plan has been distributed to all residents. If you woudl like another copy please email us.
The Southbourne Parish Neighbourhood Plan will be created based on both the feedback from residents but it must comply with the general policies set out in the Chichester District Local Plan. Once approved, the Southbourne Neighbourhood Plan will form part of the statutory planning framework for the area, and the policies and proposals contained within it will be used in the determination of Planning Applications.
